| Abstract: | The results of this research examines the character of Bella Swan, the protagonist in the film The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), utilizing Claude Lévi-Strauss' structuralist method, specifically the concept of binary opposition. The study seeks to investigate how Bella's character is built through symbolic and narrative oppositions, exposing additional layers of significance within the film's structure. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research reveals important binary oppositions that define Bella's path, including love vs. loss, courage vs. fear, humanity vs. the supernatural, and Edward vs. Jacob. These conflicts highlight Bella's function as a structural protagonist, embodying the paradoxes and emotional dynamics that propel the narrative forward. The findings suggest that Bella is not only a central figure in the plot but also a symbolic mediator within the narrative’s value system. This study affirms the relevance of structuralism as a literary framework for film analysis and highlights the potential of visual media as a subject of literary inquiry.
