Abstract: Abstract This research explores the portrayal of social problems in Eka Kurniawan‘s novel Lelaki Harimau through an examination of poverty, crime, and promiscuity. Drawing upon the Sociology of Literature and employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study aims to elucidate how these societal issues are depicted in the novel and the implications they hold for contemporary Indonesian society. Through a detailed analysis of key themes, character interactions, and narrative elements, the research reveals the multifaceted nature of poverty, the complex dynamics of criminal behavior, and the societal attitudes towards promiscuity as depicted in Kurniawan‘s work. The findings underscore the interconnectedness of these social problems and highlight the structural inequalities and cultural norms that perpetuate them. By delving into the lived experiences of the characters and their interactions within the fictional world of Lelaki Harimau, this research provides valuable insights into the underlying causes and consequences of poverty, crime, and promiscuity in the society. Ultimately, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the social realities depicted in literature and offers implications for addressing these pressing issues in the real world. Keywords: crime; poverty; promiscuity; societal issues
