Abstract: | ABSTRACT This research is about “Fighting Intimidation in the Novel Beauty is A Wound by Eka Kurniawan”. This research aims to explain the types of intimidation and how the protagonist struggles against intimidation in the novel Beauty is A Wound by Eka Kurniawan. In this research, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods. The data source in this research is the novel Beauty is A Wound by Eka Kurniawan, published by The Text Publishing Company, Melbourne in 2002. In collecting data, researchers used note-taking techniques. Data was taken based on the explanation of types of intimidation by Coloronso and types of resistance to intimidation by James C. Scott. In analyzing the data, researchers used Feminism theory and Intimidation theory. The results of this research show that there are three types of intimidation in the novel Beauty is A Wound, namely verbal intimidation and physical intimidation. In the struggle against intimidation, the figures carry out open resistance, where the victim openly opposes discriminatory treatment. Based on the analysis carried out, it can be concluded that women are more vulnerable to intimidation because of the stereotype that they are weak. However, this view is not always correct, because women can also fight intimidation and injustice against themselves. Keywords: intimidations, feminism, woman, struggle. |
