Abstract: Abstract Muslim women are portrayed as women who cover their aurah. Apart from covering their aurah, muslim women also must have noble character. The noble character that becomes a symbol of muslim and muslim women must be emphasized in building their strong moral and characters. This research has two objectives. The first is to identify the forms of muslim woman portrayal found in Bahitsah Al-Badiyah's poem An-Nisaiyyat. The second is to analyze Bahitsah Al-Badiyah‟s worldview referring to the muslim woman portrayal reflected in the poem. The research conducts a qualitative descriptive method with a genetic structuralism approach under the umbrella of sociology of literature. The research steps used by the researcher refers to the characteristics of the genetic structuralism approach proposed by Lucien Goldmann. Goldmann emphasizes that literary work apart from having an autonomous element cannot be separated from its extrinsic elements, especially the historical background of the author and mostly it gives an influence in his or her literary works. Bahitsah Al-Badiyah‟s poem can not be separated from her socio historical background who lived in the colonial era. She embodied many of the contradictions and tensions of her time. The result of this research is that muslim woman portrayal can be found in three categories. The first one is haya (modesty), In maintaining her modesty, a muslim woman should behaves with a good behavior, As in the teachings of Islam, modesty is a part of faith. The second is taqwa (piety), a muslim woman should not leave their religion and the noble law. They must fear Allah in a form of a good piety. The third is hijab, it is not just as a symbol of a head covering but also as a boundary for muslim woman. It is also meant as a rule for muslim woman how to dress, avoiding tabarruj (displaying beauty) and khalwat (mixing with men). Keywords: genetic structuralism, haya (modesty), taqwa (piety), hijab.
