Abstract: ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze semantic roles and valency in Pidie dialect Acehnese with a focus on two main objectives: (1) To analyze and describe the sentence structure of valency one and valency two in Acehnese, and (2) To identify and explain the semantic roles associated with valency one and valency two in Acehnese sentences. With a sentence structure that reflects the relationship between the predicate and its arguments, semantic roles pioneered by Charles W. Kreidler in his book Introducing English Semantics such as actor, affected, affecting, agent, associate, effect, place and theme play an important role in determining the meaning and function of elements in a sentence. Meanwhile, valency refers to the number and type of arguments required or permitted by a predicate. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study analyzes data collected from native Acehnese speakers through observation, questioner, and interview methods. The results of the analysis show that Acehnese has a rich and flexible semantic role system with significant valency variations, depending on the type of predicate and the context of use. This research makes an important contribution to understanding the linguistic typology of Acehnese, as well as enriching the study of syntax and semantics in Austronesian languages in general. Keywords: argumentative structure, argument, predicate
