| Abstract: | ABSTRACT This research investigates the embodiment of local wisdom within Andrea Hirata’s novel, Guru Aini. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the study utilizes a sociology of literature approach to analyze the novel's narrative and characters as reflections of cultural values. The theoretical framework is primarily guided by Indigenous Knowledge Theory, supported by relevant previous studies. The research process involved a close reading of the novel to identify explicit and implicit manifestations of local wisdom. The analysis focuses on five core tenets of kearifan lokal: Gotong Royong (Mutual Cooperation), Respect for Elders, Simple Living, Love for Family, and Preservation of Cultural Traditions. The findings reveal that Guru Aini profoundly integrates these five elements, demonstrating how they shape individual characters' decisions, foster community resilience, and contribute to the overall societal fabric. Gotong Royong is evident in collective efforts and shared burdens. Respect for Elders is reflected in deference and wisdom transmission. Simple Living is portrayed through characters' practical choices and contentment with sufficiency. Love for Family emerges as a central driving force for sacrifice and perseverance. Lastly, the Preservation of Cultural Traditions is observed in everyday customs, language usage, and the valuing of heritage. This study concludes that Guru Aini serves as a significant literary medium for showcasing and transmitting valuable local wisdom, highlighting its enduring relevance in contemporary society.
