Abstract: This study explores the use of symbolism in Alfonso Cuarón’s film script A Little Princess. The research aims to identify and analyze how various symbolic elements—such as weather, color, objects, and imagined spaces—function as representations of the main character’s emotional journey, personal transformation, and inner resilience. Using a qualitative descriptive method and semiotic analysis based on Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory, the study reveals that Cuarón employs symbolism not only for visual storytelling but also as a narrative tool that expresses deeper emotional and psychological meanings. Symbols in the film enrich the narrative structure, highlighting key themes such as loss, identity, imagination, and hope. The findings show that: natural symbols (weather and atmosphere, cold weather amd snow, the smell of warm food, colorful sky like a peacock’s tail) conventional symbol (color symbol (black dress, dark tones, brigth coors during the birthday scene) object symbols (emily; the doll, birthday cake, the locket) nature symbol ( colorful sky, cold weather, warm wind) singular symbols ( imagination as a shield, the magic circle, attic transformation). These symbolic elements effectively convey Sara’s struggle against injustice and her ability to endure adversity through imagination and empathy. Keywords: Symbolism, Semiotics, Imagination, Resilience
