PROTAGONIST’S LIFE STRUGGLE IN NARA LAHMUSI’S NOVEL A SKY FULL OF STARS

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study discusses the life struggles faced by the protagonist in the novel A Sky Full of Stars by Nara Lahmusi. The protagonist must go through in her life to achieve her dreams and fulfill her family's needs. The scope of this study focuses on the factors of the protagonist’s life struggle in the novel. Besides, this study analyzes the internal and external factors of the protagonist's life struggle in the novel. The protagonist in the novel experiences a deep struggle influenced by two main factors. Her life struggle ais caused by internal factors and external ones. The internal factors of her life struggle in the novel include perfectionism, self-priority, and inner ambition. While, the external factors consist of economic factor and social pressure. All of the factors influence the protagonist’s life journey and also result in her struggle. Finally, this analysis confirms that the combination of internal and external factors creates complex dynamics in the character's journey, and shows how these two types of drives shape and influence the protagonist's life decisions and direction in the novel.
