dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT The lower structure of the building consists of the foundation and the supporting soil for the foundation. The foundation functions to support all building loads and pass the building load into the soil below. A foundation must be able to guarantee and be able to support the load of the building above it. Variations in the value of the load on the foundation can be applied to the short span bridge on the Kutalimbaru Bridge Project, Deli Serdang Regency, Kuala Lau Bicik Village Road - Suka Rende, Kutalimbaru District. The value variation used is per 10%. Where supported by data obtained in the field. The variation of the load value per 10% starts from the initial load value of 58.020 tons with an increase of 10% of the load then becomes 63.822 tons; 69.624 tons; 75.426 tons; 81.228 tons; 87.030 tons; 92.832 tons; 98.634 tons. Sondir testing on this bridge is taken from 2 points with a depth where point 1 (S1) is 3.2 m and point 2 (S2) is 2.2 m, from the results of the sondir test, the Cone Penetration Resistance value S1 is 250 kg / cm2 with a Total Shear Resistance of 720 kg / cm while S2 is 250 kg / cm2 with a Total Shear Resistance of 420 kg / cm, then the original soil type is dominant sand with a little clay. From the load variation, it shows that the shallow foundation can withstand loads up to a value of 98.634 tons, with a foundation soil stress of 3.41 kg/cm2 and a soil permit stress of 3.33 kg/cm2. And the control value of the thickness of the bridge floor plate for concrete quality K350 permissible pons shear stress is 12.16 kg / cm² and the pons stress that occurs is 2.81 kg / cm which is smaller than the value of the thickness of the bridge floor plate, then the results of variations in load values obtained and the value of soil depth from the sondir results can be concluded that a depth of 3.2 m can be built with a shallow foundation with the provisions of the value where the foundation soil stress must be less than the soil permit stress value.
