Abstract: RINGKASAN Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara, Jl. Kata Kunci : Kacang tanah, populasi gulma C. rotundusi SUMMARY This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatra, Jl. Karya Wisata, Kelurahan Gedung. Johor, Medan District Johor, Medan City, North Sumatra Province with an altitude of 25 meters above sea level with a flat topography. This research was conducted from May to September 2022. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the population of weed (Cyperus rotundus L) on the growth and production of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L). This study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 6 levels of treatment, namely: C0 = No Puzzle Weed (control), C1 = 1 Cyperus rotundus Puzzle weed L/Polybag, C2 = 2 Cyperus rotundus weeds L/Polybag, C3 = 3 Puzzle weed Cyperus rotundus L/ Polybag, C4 = 4 Puzzle weed Cyperus rotundus L/ Polybag, C5 = 5 Puzzle weed Cyperus rotundus L/ Polybag. Parameters observed were plant height, wet pod weight per plot, seed weight per plot, seed weight 100 g, weed wet weight, weed dry weight and weed population development. The results showed that the competitive effect of the puzzle weed population on peanut plants showed a significant effect on all observed parameters except seed weight of 100 peanuts. The larger the population of Cyperus rotundus weeds increased the average plant height of peanuts, increased wet weight and dry weight of weeds and increased the development of C. rotundus weed populations, but decreased peanut production such as wet weight of pods per plot and seed weight per plot Keywords : Peanuts, Cyperus Rotundus, weed population
