dc.description.abstractABSTRAK Latar belakang : Mahasiswa tingkat akhir diwajibkan untuk menulis karya ilmiah, yang biasanya dikenal dengan sebutan skripsi sebagai persyaratan menyelesaikan masa studinya. Dalam menyelesaikan skripsi, mahasiswa menghadapi berbagai tantangan, kendala dan hambatan. Agar mahasiswa terhindar dari kegagalan dalam menghadapi stres serta berhasil menghadapi stres secara terus-menerus dan akhirnya akan membentuk toleransi terhadap stres, maka seseorang dituntut mempunyai kemampuan untuk memahami, mengenali, sekaligus mengelola kesulitan atau masalah yang dihadapinya tersebut, hingga pada gilirannya tidak membuat individu mengalami stres. Inilah yang dikenal dengan konsep adversity Quotient (AQ). Penelitian ini melibatkan 63 orang mahasiswa dan dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara AQ dan tingkat stres akademik pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi. Instrumen terstandarisasi berupa skala Stoltz dan Gadzella’s Student-Life Stress digunakan untuk memperoleh data relevan mengenai AQ dan tingkat stres akademik pada mahasiswa. Tujuan : Mengetahui hubungan Adversity Quotient dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi. Metode : Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif korelasional, dengan sampel berjumlah 63 orang yang diambil secara simple random sampling dan pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil Penelitian : Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, sebanyak 45 orang (71,4%) memiliki tingkat AQ rendah dan sebanyak 47 orang (74,6%) memiliki tingkat stres akademik sedang, dan terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan AQ dengan stres akademik dengan nilai p = 0.000 dan nilai r = 0.464. Kesimpulan : Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara AQ dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi. ABSTRACT Background : At the final year, the students are required to write a scientific paper, which is usually known as a thesis as a requirement to complete their studies. In completing the thesis, the students faced various challenges and obstacles. Therefore, so that the students were got off failure in dealing with stress, succeed in dealing with stress continuously and eventually they could toleranced to stress, were required to have the ability to understand, recognize, as well as manage the difficulties or problems. At the end, it does not make individuals experience stress. This is known as the concept of Adversity Quotient (AQ). This study involved 63 students and was conducted to determine the relationship between AQ and academic stress levels in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University of North Sumatra who were completing on their thesis. Standardized instruments in the form of the Stoltz scale and Gadzella's Student-Life Stress are used to obtain relevant data regarding AQ and levels of academic stress in students. Objective : Knowing the relationship between adversity quotient and the academic stress level in the students of medical faculty Islamic university of north Sumatra those who are completing thesis. Methods : This research is quantitative correlational, with sample of 63 taken by simple random sampling. Research Results: Based on the results of this study, 45 people (71.4%) had low AQ levels and 47 people (74.6%) had moderate levels of academic stress, and there was a significant positive relationship between AQ and academic stress with a pvalue = 0.000 and the value of r = 0.464. Conlcusion : Based on the results of the study, there was a significant positive relationship between AQ and academic stress in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University of North Sumatra those who are completing thesis Keywords : Adversity Quotient, AQ, student, thesis, academic stress level.en_US
