Abstract: ABSTRACT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE IMAGINATION SUGGESTION METHOD THROUGH AUDIO-VISUAL MEDIA IN THE ABILITY TO WRITE SHORT STORIES FOR XI CLASS STUDENTS OF AL-JAM’IYATUL WASHLIYAH 22 TEMBUNG Nurhajijah Email : nhajijah106@gmail.com This research was conducted to describe the effectiveness of the imagination suggestion method through audio-visual media in the ability to write short stories for class XI students of AL-Jam’iyatul Washliyah 22 Tembung. The population of all grade XI students is 108 people. Samples were taken from 78 people randomly, 39 people for the experimental class and 39 people for the control class. The method used in this study is two group post test design experimental method. The instrument used was the short story writing test in the form of assignments.The hypothesis was tested using the t test formula. The ability to write a short story using the imagination suggestion method through audio-visual media obtained a mean of 87.28 in the experimental class and it can be categorized well. The ability to write short stories using the method of Writing In The Here and Now through audio-visual media obtained a mean of 79.26 in the control class and it can be categorized well. Based on the calculations with the “t” test, the value of tcount > ttable is obtained at the significance level α = 0,05 with db = (N1 + N2) – 2 = 76 that is 5,89 > 1,665 so that the hypothesis is declared correct and accepted. This means that the Imagination Suggestion Method through audio-visual media is effectively used in improving the ability to write short stories compared to the Writing In The Here and Now method by thw students of class XI of AL-Jam’iyatul Washliyah22 Tembung in 2019/2020 Academic Year. Populasi seluruh siswa kelas XI berjumlah 108 siswa. Dari populasi, ditetapkan sampel secara purposive sebanyak 2 kelas, yakni kelas XI.IISA dan XI MIA dengan jumlah masing-masing 39 siswa. Kelas XI IISA ditetapkan sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan metode Sugesti Imajinasi sedangkan siswa kelas XI MIA sebagai kelompok kontrol yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan metode Writing In The Here and Now. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis data adalah metode eksperimen, Hipotesis diuji menggunakan rumus uji t. Kemampuan menulis cerpen dengan menggunakan metode Sugesti Imajinasi melalui media audio visual memperoleh mean 87,28 pada kelas eksperimen dapat dikategorikan sangat baik. Kemampuan menulis cerpen dengan menggunakan metode Writing In The Here and Now melalui media audio visual memperoleh mean 79,26 pada kelas kontrol dapat dikategorikan baik. Berdasarkan perhitungan dengan uji “t” diperoleh nilai thitung > ttabel pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 dengan db = (N1 + N2) – 2 = 76 yaitu 5,89 > 1,665 sehingga hipotesis dinyatakan benar dan diterima. Hal ini berarti Metode Sugesti Imajinasi melalui media audio visual efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis cerpen oleh siswa kelas XI SMA Al-Jam’iyatul Washliyah 22 Tembung Tahun Pembelajaran 2019/2020.
