Kata Kunci : Escherichia coli, Ekstrak daun kayu manis. viABSTRACT Introduction: Escherichia coli is the main pathogen that causes approximately 90% of urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections in the form of diarrhea, and systemic infections in humans. Cinnamon leaves (Cinnamomum burmannii) have an antibiotic effect on bacteria. Flavonnoids, saponins, terpenoids, and tannins in cinnamon leaf extract are known to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Methods: This research uses experimental methods, the experimental design used in this study is an experimental post test only control group design. The technique used in measuring antibiotic activity is the disc diffusion method. Result: The result of the research showed that cinnamon leaf extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) with concentration of 80%, 60%, 30%, and 15% yielded average of clear zone diameter 16,70 mm, 11,725 mm, 9,05 mm, dan and 6,77 mm. While the diameter of the clear zone of chiprofloxacine is 32,45 mm and the aquadest is not obtained clear zone. Conclusion: Cinnamon leaf extract with 80% concentration has the highest clear zone in the treatment group. Keywords: Escherichia coli, cinnamon leaf extract |
