PERSONALITY TRAITS IN PIDI BAIQ’S NOVEL DILAN DIA ADALAH DILANKU TAHUN 1990

Abstract

Abstract This thesis focuses on the personality traits of the protagonist in Pidi Baiq’s Novel Dilan Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990. This thesis aims to reveal the personality traits who is owned by the protagonist of the novel named Dilan including the way he seduces and wins the heart of Milea, his lover, and the romantic words he always says to Milea. People have unique personalities that make them who they are. Personality traits reflect people’s characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The theory about the personality traits applied in this thesis is the theory put forward by Lewis Goldberg. There are five big personality traits namely Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness. The whole research is done using qualitative descriptive method proposed by Miles and Huberman. The results show that the protagonist of the novel has the five big personality traits, all of which are seen in the whole course of the story.
