Abstract: | GERARD HEYMANS’ PERSONALITY TYPE THEORY IN TERE LIYE’S NOVEL NEGERI PARA BEDEBAH Abstract This study is based on Tere Liye's novel Negeri Para Bedebah, which deals with personality types. Thomas, or Tommi, is a professional financial consultant and the founder of Thomas & Co., a major financial consulting firm. Thomas is a one-of-a-kind individual since his co-workers regard him adaptable. Thomas has a labile personality in the sense that his behavior is unpredictable, but he has a personality in the sense that he has smart, responsible, aggressive, and independent attitudes. In this study, the four personality types are explored or studied by using a grand theory proposed by Gerard Heymen in which it is stated that every individual’s personality is unique and could be adjusted to a certain condition. Over all the personality is divided into eight types. The whole study is conducted by descriptive qualitative method showing the personality of the main character; this is a type of individual phenomena that can also be found in society. The results show that the main character has the three types of personality based on the above-mentioned theory: nerveous, choleric, passion. Key words : personality, nervousness, choleric, passion. |
