Abstract: | ABSTRAK Komposit didefinisikan sebagai penggabungan dua macam material atau lebih yang memiliki sifat yang berbeda, yaitu matrik dan penguat. Komposit memiliki keuntungan dimana tahan terhadap korosi dan juga memiliki kekuatan dan kekakuan yang baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik, regangan dan modulus elastisitas pada komposit serat kayu Mahoni tanpa alkali ditinjau dari kerapatan massanya dengan variasi 30 %, 50%, 80%. Penelitian ini menggunakan serat kayu Mahoni, resin yang digunakan adalah resin polyester BQTN 157 EX. Komposit dibuat dengan menggabungkan spesimen yang seragam yaitu berukuran persegi P x L (19,3 x 19,3) cm dengan ketebalan 10 mm berdasarkan variasi fraksi berat serat 30%, 50%, 80%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dari perbandingan antara mesh 30, mesh 50 dan mesh 80, kekuatan Tarik tertinggi ada pada percobaan mesh 80 sebesar 43.07 MPa , dan modulus elastisitas tertinggi ada pada mesh yang sama sebesar 373.1 MPa. Kata Kunci: serat kayu Mahoni, uji tarik, ASTM ABSTRACT Composite is defined as a combination of two or more materials that have different properties, namely matrix and reinforcement. Composites have the advantage of being resistant to corrosion and also having good strength and stiffness. The purpose of this study was to determine the tensile strength, strain and modulus of elasticity in the composite of Mahogany wood fiber without alkali in terms of mass density with variations of 30%, 50%, 80%. This study uses Mahogany wood fiber, the resin used is polyester resin BQTN 157 EX. Composites were made by combining uniform specimens, i.e. square size W x L (19.3 x 19.3) cm with a thickness of 10 mm based on variations in fiber weight fraction of 30%, 50%, 80%. The results showed that from the comparison between mesh 30, mesh 50 and mesh 80, the highest tensile strength was found in the experimental mesh 80 of 43.07 MPa, and the highest modulus of elasticity was in the same mesh of 373.1 MPa.
