Abstract: ABSTRAK Latar Belakang:Fast food merupakan makanan yang dalam proses memasaknya tidak membutuhkan waktu yang lama. Dampak yang ditimbulkan apabila terjadi perubahan pola dan frekuensi konsumsi fast food secara berlebihan pada remaja yang sering mengkonsumsi fast food minimal 3 kali/minggu mempunyai resiko menjadi obesitas. Lingkar pinggang (LP) merupakan indikator risiko kesehatan yang berhubungan dengan kelebihan lemak di daerah sekitar abdominal. Pengukuran lingkar pinggang menggambarkan penumpukan lemak tubuh bagian atas atau upper body obesity, dan berhubungan dengan lemak pada intra abdominal (visceral fat). Tujuan:Mengetahui Pengaruh Konsumsi fast food terhadap lingkar pinggang pada mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran angkatan 2018 di Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Metode Penelitian:Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analitik dengan pendekatan studi cross sectional,yaitu dengan cara pengumpulan data sekaligus pada suatu waktu dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi fast food terhadap lingkar pinggang pada mahasiswa angkatan 2018 di Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Jumlah sampel di dalam penelitian adalah 60 orang. Pengukuran konsumsi fast food menggunakan FFQ (Food Frequency Quesioner)yang terdiri dari 17 jenis makanan cepat saji. Lingkar pinggang di ukur menggunakan meteran. Data di analisis menggunakan uji Person Chi-Square. Kesimpulan:Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik menggunakan uji Person Chi-Square didapati nilai p = 0,001 (p>0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya hubungan konsumsi fast food terhadap lingkar pinggang pada mahasiswa angkatan 2018 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Kata Kunci: Fast Food, Lingkar Pinggang, Obesitas. ABSTRACT Background:Fast food is food that in the process of cooking does not take long. The impact caused by changes in the pattern and frequency of consumption of fast food in adolescents who are often consumed fast food minimum 3 times Waist circumference is an indicator of health risks associated with excess fat around the stomach. Measurement of upper body obesity abdominal circumference, and connects with inner abdominal visceral fat. Purpose of The Research: To find out the effect of fast food consumption on waist circumference in medical faculty students of 2018 at the Islamic University of North Sumatra. Methodology of The Research: The type of research used in this study is an analytical method with a cross sectional study approach, collecting data at once at a time to determine the effect of fast food consumption on waist circumference for students of 2018 at the Islamic University of North Sumatra. The number of samples in the study were 60 people. Measurement of consumption of fast food using FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire) which consists of 17 types of fast food. Waist circumference is measured using a meter. Data was analyzed using the Person Chi-Square test. Conclution: Based on the results of statistical tests using the Person Chi-Square test found the value of p = 0.001 (p> 0.05). These results indicate that there is a relationship between consumption of fast food to waist circumference in students of 2018 Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University of North Sumatra.
