ABSTRACT Background: Currently, CRC is the third most common type of cancer in the world according to Global Burden of Cancer (GLOBOCAN) data and the fourth highest in Indonesia. The estimated increase in the number of deaths from this disease is greater, by 69% to about 1.6 million deaths worldwide by 2040. One of the causes of CRC is caused by high alcohol consumption. Reactive metabolites in alcohol, acetaldehyde, have carcinogenic properties. Purpose: Determine the relationship between the history of alcohol consumption and the incidence of CRC at RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan. Method: This study uses analytical methods with cross sectional approach. This study used primary data and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through patient interviews and secondary data were taken through medical records. The population of this study is the overall data from the results of digestive surgery poly examination at H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan in 2020 - 2022 which amounted to 78 patients (46 CRC patients and 32 non-CRC patients). The sampling technique uses total sampling. Results: The results of this study showed that of the 46 patients diagnosed with CRC by age, the highest number was the age of 53-61 years (26.9%) and the highest number by sex was male (37.2%). In 33 patients of digestive surgery poly, as many as 21.7% consumed alcohol for 15-17 years and as many as 90.9% consumed alcohol class A. There was a relationship between history of alcohol consumption and the incidence of CRC with a value of p = 0.010. Keywords: Colorectal Cancer, Alcohol Consumption History, Age, Gender.en_US
